SUPPORTING WORKSHOPS
School of Dance Therapy

A full programme of supporting Workshops and Study Days is available all the year round.

Our GUEST TEACHERS include ADRIAN ATKINS, who is in the process of setting up a Dance Therapy Centre in Wiltshire. Adrian has been building up an impressive career as a Dance Therapist, working alongside conventional medical teams. His methods have proved especially successful in the treatment of conditions such as cerebral palsy, Parkinson's Disease and stroke.

Adrian has been keeping completely up-to-date with the latest developments in the UK by continually attending conferences, workshops and training days by other health care and 'dance in the community' groups. In May 2009 he will be attending a course on the management of cerebral palsy, at the invitation of the Peto Institute in Budapest.

Adrian is also well known as a highly popular professional choreographer. He believes that all those attending his workshops can, with some basic training from him (and a reasonable amount of hard work on their part!), be quickly brought up to performance standard. Students find this experience a great asset when working with individuals and groups in the community, especially with recreational groups where participants are looking for some extra support as they work through some of the more difficult phases of their lives, or want to explore for themselves the benefits of group dance experiences.

Also included in the series will be Workshops on Laban Art of Movement. Laban developed this Dance system based on educational and remedial principles. Introduced by Laban Master Teachers, Laban Art of Movement became the first recognised Dance Therapy method ever to be practised in Britain.

All our Workshops are suitable for both advanced students and beginners.
